I have to do one for my film class. I'm thinking about doing Akira or Tommy Wiseu's "The Room". Any other suggestions?

Kubrick's Fear and Desire. It has the unlikely combination of both being Kubrick and being terrible. That should throw your teacher for a loop.

I'm a really big fan of Moon. Awesome movie and you could pull so much for a report out of it.

Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade.
It's a cinematic fucking masterpiece. I dare say, even greater than Ghost in the Shell (from the same person).

The Room is a hilarious idea. Or, if you want to be really perverse, you can review Eraserhead.

There's a lot you could write about for "Paths of Glory"

Interstellar 5555 gets my vote. An anime music video of an entire daft punk album. You can write some damn good material on it.
or do one on Rush to talk about old F1
Or do Senna and try not to cry.
Or do one on a top gear special and see if you get away with it?

Probably not the most imaginative choice, but Vertigo is fantastic

If you've never watched it before, Casablanca. Fantastic movie. One of those films everyone talks about but no one watches. I popped the dvd in one day for shits and giggles and was amazed at just how great it was.

What makes a movie great to review? Intricate plot, superb cinematography or maybe referncing other works and layers of interpretation? I'm honestly asking.

Rififi - It's French, so you'll get extra film class points and it's basically the template for all modern heist movies, so it's awesome.

You want something that is super artsy, with a lot of influence from the writer/directors bout with extreme depression? Antichrist. Pretty graphic at parts, but it really is a good movie.
Want a movie that will raise a couple eyebrows, but is actually a very great commentary on the political atmosphere during the time it was made? Salo. It's also a pretty good example of a movie that really did test what could/should be shown in a movie.
Want to make people's eyes roll and tear apart a movie? Transformers. Any of them.
Want a challenge? Django Unchained. And do the review without ever discussing the movies use of nigger and racism. Because I think there is a lot more to the movie than those two things, which a lot of people latch on to immediately and never let it go, sometimes with good reason.
Want something that has been covered before a good bit, but has since been cast aside? The Usual Suspects. (KEYSER SOZE!!!)
Random list: Seven Psychopaths, A Fish Called Wanda, The Italian Job (original), The Fast and the Furious (since it is a pretty hot topic around these parts at the moment), Vanishing Point. I could sit here and do this all day. But that would defeat the purpose and provide absolutely not help. To make a single recommendation - The Usual Suspects.
